How & Why Daily Practices Impacts your Happiness

Last blog post I made a list of 10 things you can do every day to stay happy.
Every practice on that list deserves a spotlight, which is why I’ll do a post on each.

But first, I’d like to go a little deeper on HOW & WHY your daily practice impacts your happiness (and overall well-being).

I just completed a personal development program from Tony Robbins called Personal Power II…
A-MA-ZING!
(If you don’t know who Tony Robbins is, check him out here).

I learned SO much about myself! I also learned about the importance of daily rituals (which I call daily practices).

He explains that failure and success are not a ONE TIME big event that happens in your life, but rather it’s the result of all the little rituals you do every day before you’re living successfully.

Plus, what you do EVERY SINGLE DAY is quite literally the results of your life!

Now, if you’re familiar with his work (and based on what I’ve shared with you here), you’ll know that his teachings are driven to bring you success in your life.
My approach with this concept is to apply it to become successful at feeling happiness and love.

You see, for me, success IS joy…its living in the present moment, feeling good, feeling self-love, living happily ever after in the NOW.

Once I can accomplish feeling those emotions on a regular basis, then I know FOR SURE I can accomplish all the goals and desires I set up for myself.

So how & why can daily practices impact your happiness?

Based on what I learned from Tony Robbins, happiness is not a one-time event, that once you reach it, it’s yours forever more.

When you regularly practice happiness, you start to become familiar with that emotion, and once your mind and body become familiar with that emotion, you’ll be naturally feeling joy more of the time.

Also, daily practices are a powerful way to prime your mind, body, and energy to get you through the day feeling connected to yourself, and more importantly, feeling a sense of fulfillment.

Over time, you’ll start to believe that you can accomplish ANYTHING – big or small – because you conditioned your mind to believe that you can…all thanks to your daily practices.

Remember, life is happening NOW. Practice feeling good now! Don’t just let life happen to you; get control of your emotions and your states so YOU decide how life is going to turn out.

Make it a ritual, and you’ll see the impact your practice will have on your happiness and life.

I’d love to hear from you!

What daily practices do you have that set you up for the day?

What NOT to do during Meditation

About 3 years ago I was an Associate Director of Administration at an art complex near Wynwood Miami.

With this title came a great deal of responsibility, and it was the very reason why I started having anxiety attacks.

At that time, I felt that a steady meditation practice would surely cure my anxiety.

So I started meditating…everywhere, at all times.

I began meditating every single morning, then again right before leaving my house to go to work.

At work I would take bathroom breaks that were secretly “meditation breaks.”

I would meditate right before an important meeting and before presentations and tours.

I used any excuse to close my eyes, shut myself off from reality, and cozy up into my inner world where I felt safe and comfort.

My inner world became my escape from reality. I guess you can say my drug of choice was meditation.

All that meditation was good for me during this time because I was experiencing a critical moment in my physical reality, and I had to seriously do a lot of inner work.

The problem I began to have was when I began wishing for change.

I knew that I wanted to be a full time artist, to start my own business, be my own boss.

That idea created a lot of stress for me because I wasn’t sure how I was going to make that a reality, given the facts of my current situation.

My dream life felt SO DISTANT, like there was a huge gap from where I was to where I wanted to be.

As a student of the law of attraction, I knew the steps required to manifesting anything in life. I knew that in order to manifest, you have to feel that you already have it.

The problem was that I felt negative emotion with the dream life I was after.

I thought that more meditation meant I was closer to making my dreams come true. So during my practice, I began to think about what I wanted.

I started asking the universe for help, to make it happen faster…I felt desperate.

Thinking about what I wanted only made things worse for me because when I opened my eyes, my situation was still the same.

Meditation went from feeling like my favorite drug to feeling like I overdosed.

It wasn’t long after this cycle of mixed emotions was finally cleared up for me.

My desires switched from wanting something physical to wanting a feeling of relief.

I began to listen to the Teachings of Abraham on YouTube. Video after video I learned SO MUCH about the process of manifesting and the true reason why we should meditate.

I put it all into practice, and with time I was able to better balance my emotions. I learned that what people truly want in life is a feeling, an emotion.

As Abraham puts it, the things you want in life is because you think you will feel better when you have them.

The lesson I learned was this:

Don’t meditate to make something happen.

Meditation and visualization are 2 things that should be done separately.

Meditation is meant to give you relief, to let go of resistance.

I’m not saying you can’t think about the things you want…just do it if it feels good. If you have mixed feelings about your desires, don’t force yourself to try and solve it during meditation.

Today, I work as a full time artist in my home studio, I started my own business, I know how to balance my mind, body and heart, and more importantly I am able to teach others about what my practice has taught me.

The journey to enlightenment is different for everyone. No matter what stage you’re in, allow your emotions to guide you.

We are all at different stages in our personal evolution, and I’m happy to be able to share my experience so that it can help you in your journey.

I’d love to hear from you!

Have you come across a bump in the road with your meditation practice? If so, please share in the comments below.

Also, feel free to share this with someone who might also be struggling with their practice.

My Pinterest Vibe & Vision Board

Hi friends 💖

Last weeks post was about how to create a habit on feeling good, and one of the techniques I shared was on how to create a Vibe Board (aka mood board).

I love to make these, especially if I go the digital route and use Pinterest to help me 😍

I’ve made Vibe Boards on just about EVERYTHING…not only do I enjoy putting them together, but it activates the habit of clearly searching for things I love.

As a result of looking for things I love in a digital platform, I carry the same habit on to the real world. As I am walking and going about my day, I automatically look for things I am loving about the environment I’m standing in.

When I make a Vibe Board for the purpose of feeling better (or enhancing my mood), I like to first make a list of the things I want to look for.

I use the following categories:

  • Senses (site, smell, taste, touch)
  • Color palettes
  • Outfits
  • Lifestyle (like traveling, going to the gym, yoga)
  • Home decor (house plants, furniture, etc)
  • People I love (could be family, friends, or people I admire)
  • Pets/ animals

Once I have written down what my favorites are for each category, I then head on over to Pinterest and start my search.

I like to use the app Collage Maker to insert all the pictures I have found. It makes my board look clean and beautiful. You can change the size and proportions of each image so that it all fits in a way that is pleasing to you when you see it.

This process is VERY satisfying for me, especially since I work creatively, it really sets the tone for the day.

Here is one I made today:

These are my current faves (and vibes) I got going on:

  • Colors: lemon yellow, purple, hot pink, silver gray, black
  • Textures: canvas/ burlap, metallic/ shiny paint
  • Sounds: Jazz Music
  • Smells: My new Coco Channel perfume my mom gave me for Christmas (love heeeer!)
  • Tastes: COFFEE…actually, cafe con leche! Coconut milk, to be exact.
  • Outfits: Lately I’ve been loving New Balance, they have an old school feel to their design
  • Lifestyle: I am ALL about traveling! My husband and I started the year on that traveling vibe, already have a few trips planned!
  • Home Decor: Candles and plants. I have a few house plants and am working on collecting a few more for around the house.
  • Animals: Maybe its my traveling vibe I got going on, but lately I’ve got my eyes on the birds around my home. I live by the water and I LOVE to see them flying by the ocean, makes me feel so peaceful inside

I use a Vibe Board when I’m planning for a trip, an event, for my business, projects, even birthdays and holidays….the list goes on!

I like to think of Vibe Boards as similar to a Vision Board, except the emphasis is more on what feels good, vs. what it is that I want to manifest.

So what exactly are the differences between the 2?

Vision Boards are a visual representation of the things you are wanting to manifest/ make happen into a tangible, thing (for lack of a better word).

Vibe Boards are a visual representation of all the things you LOVE and make you feel good. Key word: FEEL

[DISCLAIMER: Only spend your time creating these boards if they make you feel good in the process. I have created boards in the past where I REALLY WANTED something to manifest, and my focus was on the fact that I didn’t have it yet. The emotion you have while creating them is more important than the actual pictures you select.]

Here is an example of a Vision Board I created for my business:

CollageMaker_20180107_194114878

You’ll notice that some images I chose are of memories that already happened, because they’re pictures of me. You see, the purpose of a Vision Board is to activate within you the emotions of what it would feel like to already have what you want.

These pictures of myself represent a HUGE GOAL I accomplished, and so adding it to the vision of my business really brings me joy because it was the very first goal I made for myself a very long time ago, and represents SUCCESS…in my book!

This is the list I used to create the Vision Board for my business (note this is a small board, one that I keep on my phone):

  • Colors: White, hot pink, purples, orange, turquoise, silver gray, black
  • Textures: Wood, metallic, paper, canvases, satin
  • Outfits: A mix between sporty, glam, with pops of color
  • Goals: Maintain and elevate my followers on social media, start a you Tube channel, sell my artwork at selected stores, run a successful online and mobile shop
  • Look and feel of the brand: Neo Pop Art with an elegant tone, minimalistic yet colorful, professional, clean

There you have it folks! I sure hope my digital Vibe & Vision boards inspired you in some way to run off and create your own!

Now I would love to hear from you! Do you create Vibe or Vision Boards? If so, please share your process!

If you know someone who would love this idea, please share the love!

Thank you SO MUCH for reading…and I’ll catch you next week!

Much Love,
Marisol Medina

Welcome!

Hi friends! Welcome to my blog 🙌
My name is Marisol. I’m the artist and creator of Pop Heart Studio – an online and mobile art gift shop.

My purpose as an artist is to create paintings that feel like joy, excitement, and LOVE 💖

Just as I’m passionate about expressing joy  through my art, I also have a passion for personal development.
People who know me would say I’m very kind, creative, sweet, compassionate….and a SUPER DUPER great listener. They would also say my favorite topics are about the universe, energy, life….💖

I’ve been learning about self care and the law of attraction since I was a kid. My greatest teacher (and hero, my dad) taught me the basics of metaphysics. He showed me techniques on how to design a life of joy. He also taught me how to handle situations that are beyond my control.

Throughout the years it has become my passion to really understand the human life experience as a whole.  I’ve gathered enough practice and life experience to finally share my secrets on how to live a balanced, thriving life.

I live in the moment, aware of my eternal-ness, aware that I’m alive. I check on myself to see where I’m at, to see what my body needs and is asking of me. I make self care my #1 priority in life, because I am not of service to you if I cannot first be of service to myself.

If this is new stuff for you, I promise it’s a game changer.

I’ll insert a disclaimer here: I’m not a doctor…and everything you’ll read is based solely on my personal practices. I’ll always share my resources, and if I don’t then you’ll know its original work.

This space allows me to bridge the gap between my artwork and my interpretation of life. It is a brilliant way for me to connect with you and hopefully be of service to you.

I believe we are all creators, and I’m here to teach you how to live a ridiculously AMAZING life by expressing your love from HEAD to SOUL.

I’ll post MY take on topics based on all areas of life, and how I intentionally use the law of attraction EVERY SINGLE DAY…no matter what!

It’s not rocket science, and once you know the concepts, you can very easily develop your own personal habits that’ll transform the quality of your life.

May these teachings reach those who are ready to learn, and may this be a tool for you to create an extraordinary life! 😄

Stay tuned as we go on this journey together of creativity, life, and love!

Oh, and please make sure to comment and leave me your feedback below! 😊 I’d love to get to know you and the community we’ll be building together ❤❤❤

💋 Much love,

Marisol Medina
